Thanks, Matt, for posting the pics and bringingback some memories. I still have the picture you gave me when I left of the regrowth starting after the forest fires. I'll never forget we had to evacuate four times that year because of the forest fires. We were all so ecstatic when it finally poored down rain, ending the fires. We had a great time playing in the rain and mud. I was a counselor then supervisor at GWC from 1998 to January of 2001. Loved it all.

Hi Laura! I have not been on this site in a while and well of course I go back and check on it and here you are... it was good to see that you remembered me! I am great, I have two boys (11 years old and 10 mth old). I am currently working on my registered nurse license. I have been working in the Mortgage- Corporate world for the last 8 years. I am from Houston and moved here about 3 years ago. I remember everyone now that you mentioned their names. WOW it has been a very long time! I loved to laugh and make people happy when the times were down. Always have to make it into a positive froma negative sitation. I understood the reasons of me being there and glad that I worked through out my problems. It made mea different person and a better person. May God bless you too and your family! Keep in touch!

i havent seen any Weushis posts as of yet. I think i was there around 77/78. karla & jeff jamar were pretty much running the place. Robert driving. I finally graduated to "independent living" in downtown Houston.... the one wit the biker bar directly behind it? what a wake~up call that was !!! We were a rough group, I actually went back in my 20's and worked there for awhile... still always in trouble tho. Now, 5 kids later, only trouble is if i wake up AFTER they do !!!

Hey, Viviana! This is Laura. I remember you from my time as a Shoshoni counselor in the early 90s (1992-1993, and summer of 1995). Thanks for leaving a message on the site! I sometimes think back and wonder what ever happened to all of our sensational Shoshonis. We had an awesome group! It was nice to stumble upon this site and find at least 2 old Shoshonis from my time there. I remember that you laughed a lot and liked to be silly. It helped "lighten the mood" on those tough days when not everyone in the group was giving off positive vibes. I also remember campers Dion, Christina, Jaime, Amanda, Bonita, Tiffany, Tasha, Amber, counselors Kathy, Elizabeth (and dog Baby), Amanda, Karen, and teachers Sid, Wanda, Adrian. I was always fascinated by those die-hard supervisors and camp directors who had worked at Hope Center for YEARS/decades (and inspired the rest of us who were just trying to make it for 12 months!): Patrice, Deb Goudy, Karla at the warehouse, Susie B. Wish I could remember more names!! Glad you are doing well, Viviana! Hope to hear from more folks who were there during our time at GWC...Camp was a really great experience for me, and changed me for the better. I'm glad others feel the same about camp. Every day was full of lessons and challenges, but looking back, we were all privileged to be part of GWC before it ended....God bless!
