Hello all, I was at Hope Center from July 96 to January 98. I started out as an Agape then moved to Armadillos. I had a dog named Freeway (who once got into a fight with Otis, yikes!). I have lots of fond memories of Hope Center and often wonder how the girls (now women) are doing. I am an LPC and have been living in Austin for 6 years. I got married a year ago to the love of my life. I would love to hear from anyone who was at Hope Center during that time.

"Wow, I have been wondering what ever happen to "Hope Center"...Although I vowed I didn't ever want to see another tree again (^_^), I still have many fond memories of this place. I really do miss this place. My camp counsler was Ms. Lady Jacquelyn Parks...and Ms. Jennifer...I dont remember my other camp counsler name, but I do remember she had some beatiful blond hair...I was an "DAKOTA!!!"...<(^_^<

WOW-Im sitting here thinking about what a difference Hope Center made in my life. I was a camper in the Agape group from December 4, 1987 through April 22, 1989. One year and 4 months. But what a difference it made in my life. Cassandra Banks, Cindy Durbin and Cody(dog), Anameka Pike' and Susie (can't remember her last name) were my counselors and they were great. Didn't think so back then, but thank them a million times over now! Im 37 yrs old now and have a 17 yr old son that kind of took after me and so without hesitation I placed him in a boys camp called ROP that really made a difference in his life as well. My daughter is 15 and THANK GOD turned out totally different from when I was her age. But just want to say THANK YOU for circle ups that were never ending, THANK YOU for waking us up at the crack of dawn to clean the latrine and rake around our tents. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

i was a sequoia. i think it was around 79' or 80'. I did not care much for the place. jeff was running it and Terry Pena and "Suds" were our counslers. I am one of the sequoias who escaped to civilization!! My friend and I, Penny< started a fire and it spread through the forest really fast. We then ran and was on the run for about 3 days. we met some hunters and were smuggled out as they had road blocks set up. I remember the judge telling me that he was going to send me somewhere where i could not run away. i vowed then and there that i would make it out of that camp. and i did!! It was so hot and really tough, but it just goes to show how strong our will can be. i left behind the legal system and managed to stay under detection until i became of legal age. I thought my experience so different than the ones i read on this board that i should share mine. i wonder if anyone else had a similar experience there??

hey I attended Hope center in 96-97. I was a ranger. I was wondering if there is a hope center for my son. It taught me alot being there and I think he needs the same lessons for him to develop into a good man.

Hello everyone. I just stumbled across this message board. I was an Armadillo counselor from 1997 -1998. The girls use to call me M&M. Anywhoo..it's sad learn the camp closed it's doors. How long has it's been since they shut down?

After looking at the pics...I remember that BUS!! OMG when they told me the story i couldn't sleep for the first week I was there! Do you all remember the story. I remember it was something like this... One day a guy kidnapped all the kids on the bus and killed all of them and buried there bodies on the grounds. And it was rumored that he was still living near the girls camp. I was never so scared in my life. But i wasn't going tell anyone that! I saw that bus and said oh my god! I totally remember that. I was so scared! haha
