Hey guys. Jennifer here. I use to be a counselor from 2/98-4/00. I worked at Girls' Camp as an Agape, Dakota, Sequoia/Dakota counselor. I miss it sometimes. I so miss my co-counselor Ms. Lady Jacquelyn Parks. I miss the girls and the laughs. I also miss working at the Boy's camp. I learned a lot. My experience there prepared me for where I am now. Hugs....

Hi I was at the girls wilderness camp in Groveton from 1995-1996. I was in the Mohicans. Back then I hated it but I remember when it was time for me to go I wanted to stay with the friends and the family I had made. It changed my life and I owe the camp so much. I am a sucessful mother of four and obtaining my Childhood Development Assosiates Degree. I am still in contact with Counsolers Melonie, Demitria and a few of the campees. Thanks for making me relize life could be great...It was worth all the tree cutting and skinning!

Greetings to all who have signed on to this website. I was the treatment director from 1999 to 2001 at the Boys Camp. I have good memories of some kids that had real potential and some very real needs. It is refreshing to see that some have gone on to make a difference in the world and so many who said that it changed their lives. It was important to me as well. After 32 years as a therapist it is hard to know if what you did or were a part of made a difference, so reading several of the notes here was very satisfying. Thanks.

How are things at your end? I can't believe how different you and Pete look. Will be in Houston this Fall, we should try to meet up. Still working on tracking others in the group...and still no luck!

I was at the girls hope center from 1986-1987. I was scred and definatly on the wrong path. Hope centers helped me and now I help others. I am currently a Chemical Dependency Therapist for adolecents, I want to thank all my counselors for enduring me and not giving up on me, even when I gave up on myself. Thank you...more than you know.

I was back at the camp in the mid 80s in the Woodsmen. Back then the camp was not much fun, with all the "circle ups" "123 wang ho" for extra food, cold showers, trying to run away and having Greg Joyce track you down, back then we called him "poof" as he would appear out of no where. But as you get older you come to appreciate the things learned there. Thinking back, it was not so bad, and was actually quite fun. Living out in the middle of nowhere, getting to go on river trips, learning about nature. Teacher Dale Watson was the best teacher I ever had. My first night at the camp was an experience, we were camping and knew no one, had to share the tent with a stranger, plus all the forest sounds, I do not think I had a wink of sleep that night. The next day I was introduced to "Old Man Crow" lol. Needless to say I have plenty of fond memories of the place. Always wanted to go back for a visit, but sad to hear they closed it down. Hope everyone was able to take away a positive experience as I have.
