Camp had as much of an
impact on me in becoming a better person than any
camper. The things I learned from the campers I
use daily. I am still working with youth. I am an
Elementary Principal. I try to teach my teachers
and students the kinds of things we experienced at
camp. I am absolutely thrilled that someone has
created this site and that people respond. I know
that more would if we knew how to get ahold of
them.
I am going to send this to Dr. Rudy Alexander who
was a counselo, counselor supervisor, asst
director, case worker at Hope Center and who has
been an insipration to me and many others. I have
also sent this to Graden Keller who is a very
successful consultant who uses the skills promoted
at camp even today. I found out about this site
from Phil Reed who I have tried often to emulate
and has inspired me to be better.

Hello from the
former Hope Center GWC Service Manager. I have
some fond memories and even some scars from
years of traveling that long road to work
every day. Somewhere I have some good pictures
of the camp just after it closed in 2001. I'll
try and dig them up and send a few in.

Hey
Terry.. Hope Center helped
me to appreciate things and
helped changed my way of
thinking"Positive"
and if I hadn't gone
something bad would of
probably happened to me or
ended up dead..And Mr.Peter
I remember the counselors
the other girls and the
canoe trips and I even kept
in touch with a few of the
girls that were there with
me , I was 13yrs old when I
was there I am 38yrs old now
,,,I wish my memory was that
good that I could remember
the name of the group
too,haha

- is your mom a Mom? Karla
(wifeof Jeff)? Patrice?
The lady who worked in the
office (I think her name
was Luann)? I can't think
of anyone else who could
have worked there for
soooo long. I'll bet the
stories she told you were
incredible. Take care!

Hi
Erin, Actually
no I'm not the
Terry you are
thinking of. I
was a camper
in the Boy
Camp back in
1978 and 1979.
Maybe someone
else that
finds the www.hopecenterforyouth.com
website may
know her.
Sorry, Terry D

I
was an
Agape
counselor
at Girls
Camp from
84-86.
Even after
20 years,
I still
have
amazingly
vivid
memories
of the
girls (now
women!)
and things
that
happened.
I wonder
"what-ever-happened
to"
these
folks:
Donja,
Cheryl,
Shronda,
Melouise,
Yvette,
Aileen,
Sharon,
Tammy,
Margaret,
Saber,
Kathleen...I
hope I did
some good
for y'all,
or at
least did
no harm. I
made many
mistakes
that I
still
regret,
but I also
remember
the fun we
had. Like
a trauma
that made
me strong,
I'll
always
remember
GWC.
